The company I am currently working for is broke, debt collector broke. They do not pay their staff and they do not pay their suppliers or anyone else for that matter. They consistently lie about why staff do not get paid, they blame clerical error on why invoices do not get paid and they dispute anything that involves money.I was told on commencement of my position that the company was financially solid and experiencing significant growth, debt growth is more like it.They continually have stock issues, or lack thereof, operationally the business is a debacle and to top it all off they continue to lie about the status of the business. The staff that I have managed to hang on to are disgruntled, bitter and are knowledgable about the fact that they may not get paid next week for one reason or another. The attitude is one of who cares ? It is one of the most disorganised places that I have ever worked in and I do not plan on being a part of this debacle for too long. My job search continues once again.
I was heartened to see the latest online retail sales figures that were released yesterday and it was suggested that 98% of Aussies have looked at online shops over the last 12 months.Encouraging news for me given that I also wish to start an online empire.I started buying things online almost 10 years ago, being a label queen I was always after USA brands and European brands and the internet made that so much easier. I still remember my first purchase and the fact that I was concerned about being ripped off, I waited for 2 weeks then finally it turned up and yay I was hooked, its been my life ever since. I have never had a poor experience buying online from other countries, Australia however is a different story. With the advent of PayPal buying from overseas is the most secure way to shop.
I started selling online about 6 years ago, initially it was second-hand stuff that I had lying around.I gradually started to understand and to educate myself about the online selling world and started to look for niche products that I could sell using my own website. Sounds easy in theory but in reality its hard work and extremely time-consuming. I managed to find my niche market and sales were doing reasonably well. I didn`t have the capital to enable business growth but I certainly realized that there was a market for my products. People have the perception that once you build a website, put your products on that site then all that will happen is the money will start rolling in, ha – try it and see how far you get. It’s a convoluted world, one that takes time and effort to understand and one that can be very frustrating.
